South of Ilex, Route 34 runs down to Goldenrod past the Day-Care (drop two Pokemon here to breed/level).
Section 2 Goldenrod City — The Hub of JohtoGoldenrod is the biggest city in the game and a one-stop shop. Hit these before the gym: Eevee (free gift) Normal · From Bill · ★ Espeon (day) / Umbreon (night) via happiness Bill.
Section 3 National Park — Bug-Catching ContestNorth through Route 35 is the National Park . On Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday it hosts the Bug-Catching Contest : you get 20 Park Balls and one capture counts — the rarest/highe.
Section 4 Route 36 — SudowoodoNorth of Goldenrod, a "tree" blocks Route 36 — it's a Sudowoodo . Talk to Floria standing nearby, then collect the SquirtBottle from the Goldenrod Flower Shop and spray the tree to trigger the battle.
Section 5 Gym Strategy - Whitney, The Normal LeaderGym puzzle: Simple — a couple of trainers and a short path. Goldenrod City Gym Leader Whitney, Goldenrod City Gym Miltank is the wall: Rollout snowballs, Milk Drink resets chip, and Attract can stall male attackers cold.
