After all 16 badges and Oak's blessing in Pallet, reach Route 28 beyond Victory Road ( Surf Water + Waterfall Water to get there).
Section 2 Mt. Silver — Encounters and LarvitarMt. Silver has some of the best catches in the game, including the only Larvitar line in Crystal.
Section 3 The Grind PlanRed's team sits at Lv 73-81 . You don't need to match that, but you want a six in the low-to-mid 60s minimum, with great coverage and a big bag of healing.
Section 4 Red's Team — Full AnalysisGym puzzle: None — just survive the climb. Red disappears after you beat him (and returns for a rematch once you re-clear the Elite Four).
